OraSure provides 18 forensic assays, including all major drugs of abuse and cotinine, a major metabolite of nicotine. The addition of Oxycodone, Methylphenidate, Carisoprodol, Fentanyl, Ketamine and Zolpidem allow forensic labs to test for an expanded menu, including prescription drugs.

Assays	Whole Blood	Serum	Urine	Oral Fluid
Amphetamine Specific A synthetic drug that is a stimulant to the central nervous system and is potentially addictive; once widely used to suppress appetite. The Company's MICRO-PLATE EIA Serum Amphetamine Specific assay is specific for d-amphetamine with high cross-reactivity to MDA. OraSure has developed a full range of forensic applications for this kit. [ close ]
Barbiturates A drug used extensively as antispasmodics, sedatives and hypnotics; can be addictive if taken for long periods. The Company's MICRO-PLATE EIA Serum Barbiturates assay is directed to secobarbital but also cross-reacts with butabarbital, butalbital, pentobarbital and phenobarbital. Orasure has developed a full range of forensic applications for this kit. [ close ]
Benzodiazepines A family of drugs that are prescribed for nervousness and sleeping problems, relaxation of muscles, and control of seizures. Adverse effects include drowsiness, hallucinations, depression, and confusion. Our MICRO-PLATE EIA Serum Benzodiazepines assay has extremely broad cross-reactivity with both high and low dose benzodiazepines. Maximum sensitivity to lower dose benzodiazepines, including 7-aminoflunitrazepam (Rohypnol metabolite) is achieved when calibrating with oxazepam. Cannabinoids All forms of cannabis have negative physical and mental effects. Use of cannabis may impair or reduce short-term memory and can produce paranoia and psychosis. Our MICRO-PLATE EIA Serum Cannabinoids or THC assay is directed toward the carboxylic acid metabolite but is also reactive with parent THC. Carisoprodol
Cocaine Metabolite An alkaloid from cocoa leaves that is used as a local anesthetic. Cocaine stimulates the central nervous system and can become addictive. The Company's MICRO-PLATE EIA Serum Cocaine Metabolite assay is directed toward benzoylecgonine and is also highly reactive with parent drug and cocaethylene. Cotinine A poisonous volatile alkaloid derived from tobacco that first stimulates (small doses), then depresses (large doses) at autonomic ganglia and myoneural junctions. We offer these kits in both a heterogeneous EIA microplate format for urine, serum and oral fluid and a homogeneous EIA format (AUTO-LYTE®) for urine and serum. Fentanyl A synthetic opiate which has been used as an analgesic and sedative during operations for many years. A key difference between fentanyl and morphine is that the drug is about 100 times more potent than morphine and has a much shorter duration of action. Our MICRO-PLATE EIA Serum Fentanyl assay is specific for fentanyl and does not cross-react with related fentanyl drugs. OraSure has developed a full range of forensic applications for this kit. Ketamine
Methadone A narcotic pain-killing drug used in the treatment of addicts and in detoxification programs. Our MICRO-PLATE EIA Serum Methadone kit is directed toward methadone and also cross-reacts strongly with LAAM, another drug used in the treatment of heroin addicts. Methamphetamine/Ecstasy A drug used as a stimulant to the central nervous system. High doses can cause a rapid irregular heartbeat, tremors, loss of coordination, and even physical collapse. The Company's MICRO-PLATE EIA Serum Methamphetamine assay is directed toward d-methamphetamine but also cross-reacts strongly with MDMA (Ecstasy) and MDEA. Methylphenidate
Morphine Specific A bitter, addictive narcotics base that is the chief alkaloid of opium and is used as a sedative and painkiller. The Company's MICRO-PLATE EIA Serum Morphine Specific assay is directed toward morphine and does not cross-react with codeine or its related metabolites. It is sometimes used as a secondary screen after identifying a presumptive positive with our broader range opiates test. OraSure has developed a full range of forensic applications for this kit. Opiates Narcotic drugs, specifically ones containing opium, a derivative, or a synthetic compound acting like opium; blocks the transmission of pain signals in the central nervous system and modifies the perception of pain. Our MICRO-PLATE EIA Serum Opiates assay is a broad "class" type assay with cross-reactivity to 6-MAM, codeine, diacetylmorphine, dihydrocodeine, hydrocodone, hydromorphone and morphine. Oxycodone
Phencyclidine A drug which interrupts the functions of the neocortex, a section of the brain that controls intellect and keeps instincts in check. Large doses may produce convulsions, coma, and heart and lung failure. Our MICRO-PLATE EIA Serum PCP assay is directed toward phencyclidine. Propoxyphene The d-isomer of this drug is classified as a mildly effective narcotic analgesic similar in structure to methadone. Common names include Darvon and Wygesic. The Company's MICRO-PLATE EIA Serum Propoxyphene assay is directed toward d-propoxyphene and the primary metabolite, norpropoxyphene.
